Bring Up the Bodies, a novel by Hilary Mantelis, happens to take place after the turmoil-ridden period of the Tudor era in the years 1535–1536. Through his manipulations to satisfy his lord, one can get the picture of how Thomas Cromell is able to contribute towards the changing scenario of Henry VIII's court. For instance, the displeasure of Henry VIII for his wife Anne Boleyn and his love growing up for Jane Seymour all have an element of truth presented in Cromwell. This has made intricate, narrative-driven Tudor politics come to life in readable volumes. Readable books the story of Thomas Cromwell takes up where Wolfhall's The Bodies left off. However, these works tell more than just a story about Tudor history. Mantel fills gaps within historical records using her imagination.
